ADAM ZOLTY

ADAM ZOLTY first studied composition and piano under his teacher and mentor Iman Habibi for over six years. In 2019, Adam graduated from the University of British Columbia where he received his Bachelors of Music in composition, studying under Dorothy Chang, Stephen Chatman, Keith Hamel, and Jocelyn Morlock.

Adam’s music has been performed by many esteemed Canadian ensembles and performers including: NU:BC Ensemble, Turning Point Ensemble, Phoenix Chamber Choir, Vancouver Chamber Choir, the Bergmann Duo, UBC Symphony, the UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and Heidi Krutzen. Adam’s three movement piece for NU:BC Ensemble called: Three Expressions for Piano Septet, was performed during Vancouver ProMusica's Sonic Boom Festival in 2018 and received the Serge Garant Award for Young Composers at the Socan Awards. Recently, Adam was accepted into the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music in Boonville, CA where he held residency and composed a work called: Variations on Angry Themes for master performers Haruka Fujii on percussion and Leo Eguchi on cello.

Adam is currently pursuing his master’s degree in music composition at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, where he is studying with Ted Hearne and Sean Friar. Adam strives to create musical experiences that are in tune with his sensitivity to physical motion, inspiring, creating, and guiding his compositions.
