AMBER SHEERAN

AMBER SHEERAN graduated from Colorado State University in 2021, with majors in Music Education and Composition. Miss Sheeran studied clarinet with Dr. Wesley Ferreira, and composition with Dr. James David. She was born on June 3rd, 1999 and grew up in Littleton, Colorado with her parents, two younger sisters, and older brother. She developed an interest in composition during her junior year of high school, writing her first piece, which was inspired by a book series. From then on, she decided to continue pursuing composition at Colorado State. Miss Sheeran enjoys working with her other musicians and educators on various outreach programs that include, giving private lessons and interactive lectures on composition and music technology.

In her own time, Miss Sheeran has found a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of her home state and enjoys gardening, camping, and hiking in her spare time. Her appreciation for nature has bled into her music on more than one occasion, notably in Suite for Fire, Suite for Earth, and (more specifically about her love for gardening) in her piece for flex-band and percussion ensemble, Found in a Gardener’s Shed. Along with her compositions, she has arranged Grainger’s Molly on the Shore for 6-part flex-band in light of the way bands across America have had to adjust for the 2020-2021 season. In the coming years, Miss Sheeran is excited to continue honing her craft, both in teaching, and in composing.
