While at Loyola University, Esau premiered numerous works for a variety of ensembles, including chamber orchestra, string quartet, and music for film as a member of The Student Composer's Forum and for self organized composition recitals. Additionally, he was named the 2019 Winner of Loyola's Composition Competition for his work "Earth Enamored" for orchestra. Additionally, Jones was commissioned by the Minnesota Consortium for Black American Composers in 2020, to create a concert band work entitled "The Joy That Comes", which was later premiered and performed by various high school concert bands throughout Minnesota during the Spring of 2021.

Jones's philosophy of music centers on experiencing life through and with others, in the hopes of creating safer, healthier, and enjoyable environments through collaboration and incorporation of shared experiences, by way of music making. He currently serves as a music educator in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, while also working as a freelance composer and musician.
