JEFF HERWIG is currently the Director of Bands at Mercer Area Middle-Senior High School in Mercer, Pennsylvania. He is responsible for all secondary instrumental activities in the district. He directs the Middle School Concert Band, Senior High Concert Band, Senior High Wind Ensemble, Chamber Winds, Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, and Marching Band.

Jeff is the founder of M&M Music Press, LLC, based out of Mercer, Pennsylvania. Many of Jeff’s works for concert band and chamber ensembles are distributed exclusively through M&M Music Press. His piece, "The Bridge," was recently chosen as a winning selection in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association 2019 Composition Contest. His work can also be found in the T.U.X. People's Music publication catalog. Jeff is a member of ASCAP and the American Composers Forum.

In 2020, Jeff founded the Three Rivers Wind Symphony, for which he is the conductor and artistic director. TRWS is a professional wind ensemble dedicated to expanding the diversity of the wind band repertoire.

​Prior to working in the Mercer Area School District, Jeff served as the Director of Bands at Titusville Area High School located in Titusville, Pennsylvania.

​Jeff completed his undergraduate work in Music Education at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and recently earned his Master of Music in Conducting from Messiah College.

​​Jeff currently resides with his wife Megan and their two children in Mercer, Pennsylvania.

40 Voices - flute and tuba-euphonium quartet; commissioned by Dr. Kathleen Melago and dedicated to the 40 victims of Flight 93, who tragically perished on September 11, 2001

The Millennium Composers Initiative represents composers from all around the world at the beginning of their professional careers, regardless of their aesthetic, style, or background. Creating fresh and engaging new music for all types of ensembles and mediums, we strive to push the limits of what defines music and art through experimental, conventional, and interdisciplinary means, providing new experiences for audiences and artists everywhere.
