LAKE CHARLES COMMUNITY BAND

The Lake Charles Community Band has a vibrant history which began over a century ago. The band's predecessors have had a continuing policy of providing a combination of musical entertainment and culture for the citizens of southwest Louisiana. The band includes several professional musicians,  band directors, collegiate and secondary teachers, retirees, housewives, craftsmen, professionals, and students both on the college and high school level. The band is an all-volunteer group which is dedicated to sharing a love of music with the public. In the past five years the band has grown both in numbers and musicianship. Last season the ensemble held 60-65 musicians and presented five concerts totaling 6.5 hours of music.

Currently the Band is under the direction of Dr. Davaron Edwards, Dr. Edwards serves as the Associated Director of Bands at McNeese State University, where he conducts the Symphonic Band and the Courtside Cowboys Basketball Pep Band, co-directs the Pride of McNeese Marching Band, and teaches music education courses in the Department of Performing Arts.
