REBECCA NISCO

 

REBECCA NISCO is an American composer currently based in London and NYC. Storytelling through her music is at the core of her inspiration for composition, whether it is through works for the concert hall, the theatre, or the screen. An avid collaborator, Rebecca’s recent film credits include original scores for the multi-award winning web-series, Marias and the multi-award winning animation Hit and Run as well as over forty student and independent short films and animations by London, NYC, and Washington D.C. based filmmakers. Her compositions for concert, film, and theatre have been performed and workshopped in venues in NYC, London, and Washington, D.C., including London’s Air- Edel Studios, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage Series, and screenings at film festivals all around the world, such as London International Animation Festival, Japan’s Tatsuno Film Festival, LA Independent Women Film Awards, and POFF in Estonia to name a few.

Rebecca has participated in the NYU Film Scoring Workshop, where her piece was recorded by members of the Prague Orchestra, The Kennedy Centre’s Page-to-Stage Festival and Millennium Stage Series, and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society Student Composer Project, where she was awarded the Singer’s Choice award for her Ave Maria. She was the composer in residence with CenterStage Theatre Company at The Catholic University of America where she composed music for plays and music directed several productions. Her new musical, Our Man Harry, premiered in Washington D.C. with the company in 2019.

Rebecca is also the co-creator and co-host of the new podcast (im)perfect alongside her longtime best friend and creative partner Kara Bartek. Rebecca is a recent graduate of Royal College of Music where she received her Master of Music in Composition for Screen with Distinction. While there, she studied with Dimitri Scarlato & Howard Davidson. In 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from The Catholic University of America, awarded with distinction in Honours Liberal Studies and a minor in the Culture of Western Civilisation. She studied under the tutelage of Stephen Gorbos, Andrew Simpson, and Robert Baker. She was also awarded the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award in Composition.
