TOH YAN EE

TOH YAN EE (b. 2000) is a Singaporean composer pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Composition at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM), National University of Singapore, under the tutelage of Assoc. Prof. Ho Chee Kong and Adeline Wong. Yan Ee is interested in exploring nature and dichotomies, and her music fuses spontaneity and organic elements.

Yan Ee has worked with musicians of TACET(i) Ensemble, Wu Xian Ensemble, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, amongst others. Her works have been performed in Singapore, Thailand, and the United States. Most recently, her piece “iridescent shadows” for flute and bass clarinet received the Concertia 2021-2022 Emerging Composers Fellowship (US), Runner-Up of the Black Bayou Composition Award 2021 (US), and Special Mention at AMAT Women Composers Competition <femfestival> 2021 (IT).

Yan Ee has participated and presented her music at various festivals and courses, such as the <reMusik.org> St. Petersburg International New Music Festival Composition Course (RU), New Music on the Bayou Festival (US), International Composition Institute of Thailand, Singapore Chinese Orchestra Composer Workshop, YST Young Composers’ Academy, and Young Composers Forum. In 2022, she will participate in Salastina Young Artists Program (US) and Composers’ Retreat organised by the New Hong Kong Philharmonia.
